Black Cat Clapping AI
Add a photo of your cat or dog. It takes a treat, sits up like a little person, flashes a grin full of human teeth and gives you four slow claps, its own paws moving like little hands, then points at you and shushes. Filmed from above like the original, in a plain home, with real clap sound. 12 seconds, vertical. Any coat works, not just black cats. Add a photo of yourself to be the owner who gets the clap.

What is the black cat clapping meme?
The clip. A phone video, filmed from above in an ordinary bathroom: a man hands his black cat a treat, puts a finger to his lips, and the cat sits up on its hind legs, flashes a grin full of human teeth and slowly claps, its black paws suddenly moving like a pair of little hands. Four claps, a point, and the man stares back deadpan. No music, just the claps.
Where it came from. The creator, @merkurianin, posted it on TikTok on 25 September 2026. By mid-October it had passed 44 million views there and 2.6 million likes on Instagram, with sequels of his own, a clean green-screen cut of the cat, and remakes from a claymation version to AC Milan's team account and K-pop idols copying the clap.
Why it works. It looks real until it doesn't. The tiles, the bare feet, the shaky phone: everything says home video, and then the cat has teeth and claps like a person. The slow clap and the fake smile also make a perfect sarcastic reaction, which is why the green-screen cat turned up applauding people skipping class, bad parking and worse.
Ours, not theirs. We don't use the original clip or that cat. The one who claps here is your own pet, with its own coat and face, in the same kind of room, with the same beats: the treat, the sit-up, the grin, the four claps, the point, the shush. Say it's AI when you post it.
What's in the 12 seconds
Every render follows the same beats as the original, so it reads as the meme at a glance.
The treat
Looking down from where you'd stand: your pet sits on a tiled floor, perfectly normal, and a hand reaches in from the bottom of the frame with a treat.
The grin
It sits up straight on its hind legs, looks into the lens, and its mouth spreads into that too-wide smile full of flat white human teeth.
The four claps
Its own paws, in its own fur, come together like a pair of little hands and it claps, slow and loud, four times, holding the grin the whole way. No human hands pasted on.
The point and the shush
It points straight at the camera, brings a finger to its lips, and drops back onto all fours with an innocent face, as if nothing happened.
The sound
Real room tone, the rustle of the treat, four slow claps and a tiny snort. No music, so it fits under whatever sound you add on TikTok.
With you in it
Add a photo of yourself and the video cuts between the front camera and the floor: you show the treat and shush, your pet claps, you stare back deadpan.

Who does the clapping
Any pet with a face works. People can do the bit too; use photos of your own children only, and anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to agree.
Your cat
The original. Black, tabby, ginger, tuxedo, white: it stays your cat, with its own markings and eyes, sitting up on the tiles.
Your dog
Dogs already sit for treats, so the sit-up looks natural and the human-teeth grin lands even harder. Small and big dogs both work.
You and your pet
Two photos: you in the selfie shots, showing the treat and shushing; your pet on the floor, clapping; you, deadpan, at the end.
Two pets
Two photos, or one of both: two cats, a cat and a dog, side by side, both sitting up and clapping at the same time.
Tips for a better clapping cat video
Shoot from above
The meme is filmed by someone standing over the pet. A photo taken from a little above, with the whole body in frame, gives the most faithful result.
Face to the lens
The grin is the moment. A sharp photo with the face clearly visible and looking roughly at the camera matters most.
Even daylight
A plain room in daylight is what the original looks like; a photo in similar light keeps your pet's coat colour true.
Paws in view
The claps are done with your pet's own paws, so a photo where the front paws are visible helps keep their colour and markings right.
