The short answer
An AI family video maker turns photos of the people in your family into short clips of them together. Add a photo of each person, or one photo of two of you, pick a moment and tap Make the effect: Hug for a parent and child who live apart, Slow Dance for a father-daughter or mother-son dance, Bring to Life for a grandparent’s old portrait, Memorial Hug for someone who has died. A birthday rap starring the birthday person is one tab away. It takes a few minutes in the browser, with no app and no prompt, and you get an MP4 for the family group chat. A 5-second clip at 720p is 5 credits, no subscription needed, and a render that fails is never charged.
Your family, in the same frame
Every family album has gaps. There is no picture of you hugging your mum since you moved abroad, no photo of your grandfather with the great-grandchild born after he died, nothing of your parents dancing at their own wedding because nobody had a camera. An AI family video fills one of those gaps with a short scene built from photos you already have, each person taken from their own picture.
The faces come from your photos; the moment is new. That makes it a good fit for the small things families send each other: a clip for a birthday, a surprise on Mother’s Day, something to play at a reunion.
How to make an AI family video
- Add the photos. One clear photo of each person, or a single photo of the two of them together.
- Pick the moment. Hug is selected on this page; Slow Dance, Bring to Life, Memorial Hug and the rest are in the grid.
- Tap Make the effect. In a few minutes the clip is ready to download and send to the family.
Family video ideas
- A hug with a parent. You and your dad, your mum and her sister, a grandparent and a grandchild who have never been in the same room. The AI hug generator puts two photos into one warm embrace.
- A slow dance. Choose Slow Dance for a father-daughter or mother-son dance, a first dance for parents who never had one filmed, or grandparents swaying together for their anniversary.
- Grandparents’ old photo brought to life. A wedding portrait from the 1950s that breathes, blinks and smiles. Animate old photos shows how; restore faded prints first with the free old photo restoration.
- Someone who is no longer here. Memorial Hug is a gentler embrace with a parent or grandparent who has died; see AI hug with a deceased loved one, or the AI tribute video guide for a memorial service.
- A baby on the way, or one day. Two partners holding a newborn who looks a little like each of them, made with Future Baby. Fun for an anniversary, purely imagined. See the AI baby generator.
- A birthday rap. Switch to the Rap video tab and make a birthday rap song starring the birthday person, or a personalized birthday song they will play twice.
- An anniversary song for your parents. A personalized anniversary song with their names, the years and one memory.
- Siblings in a meme. Three brothers, sisters or cousins can each take a shot in the gas station dance.
- The family in 1985. Parents, siblings or a couple in a grainy VHS home video with big hair and a sunny backyard, made with 80s Camcorder. See the 80s AI video.
When families make them
Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, a parent’s 60th or 70th birthday, a wedding a grandparent could not travel to, Christmas or a family reunion, the first birthday of a new baby. Most of these are days when the family chat is already busy, and a short clip sent that morning tends to land better than a long montage sent a week later. If you want it to be a surprise, make it from photos you already have rather than asking for new ones.

Tips for family photos
- Frame the two photos alike. Two upper-body pictures of a similar size look most natural side by side.
- Pick sharp faces over nice backgrounds. The scene is drawn new; only the faces and clothes come from your photos.
- Crop people out of group shots carefully. If the only picture of grandma is a family group, crop it to her head and shoulders before you upload it.
- Old photos are fine. Faded and black-and-white pictures work, and a free restore first makes faces clearer.
- Mixing ages is fine. A photo of your dad at 30 and one of you today can share a hug.
Ask first, especially with children and older relatives
It is their face too. Check with family members before you post a video of them, and keep in mind that an older relative may feel differently about seeing themselves in a clip than you do. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to agree, which for your own children is you. Videos with someone who has passed are imagined moments: share them with the people who will find them comforting, and ask before they go anywhere public.
Sharing it with the family
Every clip downloads as an MP4 that plays in any group chat, vertical by default and square or widescreen if it is going on a TV at a party. If someone in the family wants to make their own, you can gift credits through a link instead of sending them a video.
