The short answer
Add the photo (a scan, or a phone snapshot of the print), tap Restore photo and wait roughly 30 seconds. The AI cleans away scratches, creases, spots and stains, sharpens a blurry or faded image and gives a monochrome or sepia print believable color, while faces, poses, clothes and framing stay as they were. Three restores a day are free after signing in, and the result downloads as a full-size PNG without a watermark. If you want more than a still, the same picture can then go into a short video: the person blinks and smiles, or, with a photo of you, the two of you hug or dance slowly together (videos are paid in credits).
A worn family photo, fixed in half a minute
Most of us have a shoebox somewhere: a parents' wedding portrait turned orange, a grandfather in uniform with a fold right through his face, a beach snapshot so faded the sky has gone white. Fixing those used to take hours in an editor or a fee per picture at a print shop. Here it takes one photo and one tap: the picture comes back clean, sharp and in color, and the people in it still look like themselves.
How to restore an old photo
- Get a good copy. A flatbed scan is best. A phone works too: put the print on a table near a window and shoot from directly above, without flash.
- Add it and tap Restore photo. JPG, PNG or WebP. If you are not signed in yet, we keep the photo and carry on as soon as you are.
- Compare and save. Drag across the picture to see before and after, then tap Download PNG. Three restores a day are free.
What gets repaired
- Damage: scratches, cracks, fold lines, small rips, dust, mold spots and water stains.
- Age: faded contrast, a yellow or brown cast, washed-out shadows.
- Softness: blur and grain, so eyes and faces read clearly again.
- Color: black-and-white and sepia pictures come back with natural skin, hair and clothing tones, kept muted and true to the era.
- What stays put: every face, expression and age, the pose, the background, frames, borders and small inset pictures.
Then make a video from it
A clean photo is only the first step. Under the result, three buttons send it into the video studio further down this page:
- Make it move. Bring to Life: a blink, a small smile, a turn of the head toward the camera.
- Hug them. A Memorial Hug: add your own photo and you embrace each other.
- Dance together. A Slow Dance: add your photo and the two of you sway together in one frame.
Videos take a few minutes and are paid with credits: a 5-second 720p clip costs 5 credits, and a render that fails is never charged.
Tips for a better restore
- Shoot the print flat. Daylight, straight from above, no flash, no glass in front of it. Glare is the one thing the AI cannot see through.
- Crop to the picture. Leave out the table and the album page so the photo fills the frame.
- One picture at a time. For an album page with several photos, crop each one and restore it separately.
- Not happy with the colors? Run it again: each restore is a fresh attempt and may pick slightly different tones.
