Skull Cap Trend AI: Pull the Cap Down, Turn Cold

You stand in your bright room looking a bit awkward, turning a black knit skull cap over in your hands. You pull it down over your head, the beat drops, and the lights are gone: hood up over the cap, glasses off, a cold, half-lidded stare into the lens like a different person. One photo is enough. Add a photo of your dog or cat and you hold them up to the camera, and after the cut you both wear the cap, the way the puppy version went viral. 10 seconds, vertical, with the trend sound lined up on the cut. 10 credits at 720p.

  • One photo in the skull cap trend: the awkward before and the cold stare after
  • Girls do it too: the skull cap trend from one photo of a woman
  • The skull cap trend with your pet: two photos, and you both wear the cap after the cut

👤 Skull Cap Trend: 1 photo is enough

Photo 1 is you: front-facing, face sharp and well lit, head and shoulders or chest up, glasses welcome (they come off after the cut). Photo 2 is optional: your dog or cat, face and ears clear, and you hold them up to the camera. A pet photo alone gets held by a made-up young man. One person or one animal per photo.

Four beats, one cut

What happens in the 10 seconds

One handheld selfie and one hard cut, timed like the takes that went viral, with the sound already on it.

Beat 1 · The awkward before (0–3s)

Your bright room, your everyday clothes, your glasses if your photo has them. A slightly embarrassed, closed-mouth face as you turn the black cap over in your hands.

Beat 2 · Cap down (3–4.8s)

You stretch the knit cap open and pull it down over your head with both hands. For a split second your face disappears.

Beat 3 · The hard cut (4.8s)

The beat drops and the lights go out. Same room, same framing, a whole new mood: that's the "0.01 seconds".

Beat 4 · The cold stare (4.8–10s)

Black hoodie, hood up over the cap, glasses gone, hands tugging the hood by your temples, a dead-serious stare straight into the lens. Never a smile.

The trend

What is the skull cap trend?

The format. The skull cap trend is a TikTok glow-up skit from October 2026. Someone films a selfie in a bright room looking deliberately ordinary, often glasses and a checked shirt, and pulls a plain black knit skull cap down over their head. One hard cut later the room is dark, the hood is up over the cap, the glasses are gone and they stare into the camera like a brooding stranger. The on-screen caption is the joke: "How dudes act 0.01 seconds after putting on a skull cap" (also 0.1, 0.2 or 0.001 seconds, with "be", "feel" or "start moving" in place of "act").

What "0.01 seconds" means. It's how fast the cap supposedly changes you, not the length of the clip. A skull cap is the thin, close-fitting knit cap worn under a hood or a helmet; in the meme it's a magic item that flips an awkward guy into a cold, model-faced "Chad".

How it spread. One of the earliest takes we could open is @notfromco's from 11 October 2026 (about 6.4 million views). @connors_archives passed 14 million three days later, and @antoniopieterss's glasses-and-flannel take from 18 October passed 13 million. Between 21 and 24 October five more takes went past 10 million, among them a mum-made-me-do-it version under red light. Know Your Meme added the trend on 27 October and says no single creator started it. View counts as read on TikTok on 29 October.

The sound. Nearly every take uses the TikTok sound "original sound - SoulReligion": Bryson Tiller's verse from DJ Khaled's "Wild Thoughts" (featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, 2017), whose beat drop lands on the cut. Your video comes with that stretch of the sound, lined up the same way.

Girls do it too. Women run their own takes, often a grey hoodie and a gold chain after the cut, and the comments pile on with "masc potential" and "sigmafied". Upload a photo of yourself and the AI keeps your face; the cap and hood are the same for everyone.

Why people say "Marlon". Under the after shots, commenters keep writing that the guy "looks like Marlon", a Twitch streamer whose look the hood-and-cap stare gets compared to. It's a joke about the vibe; this tool keeps your own face and never swaps in a celebrity's.

The dog version. On 25 October @noahnellys did it holding his puppy: after the cut they both wear black caps, the puppy with a tiny hood. Add a photo of your pet here and you get that version with your own dog or cat.

Not the crochet trend, not a skull filter. This is the cap-and-cut meme, not a crochet skull cap pattern or CapCut's skull face effect. There's no official TikTok filter for it: people either film two shots and cut on the beat, or make it from one photo like here.

Ways to do the skull cap trend

The cap, the cut and the stare stay the same. Who's in it is up to you.

You, the classic

The more ordinary the before, the harder the after hits. Glasses on in your photo? You keep them before the cut and lose them after.

You and your dog or cat

Photo 2 is your pet. You hold them up beside your face, and after the cut you both wear black caps and stare down the lens.

Just your pet

Only have a pet photo? A made-up young man holds your dog or cat, and after the cut they're both in caps, like the viral puppy take.

Your friend who "never does trends"

Use a photo of a friend who agreed and send them their own glow-up. The "okay trends over" crowd wants this one.

Photo tips

Photos that make the best skull cap video

After the cut your hair is under the cap and the room is dark, so your face has to carry it.

Sharp, front-facing, well lit

Eyes and mouth clearly visible, facing the camera, in daylight or a bright room. Head and shoulders or chest up, like a selfie.

Glasses are a bonus

Everyday glasses make the before funnier, and they come off after the cut. Avoid sunglasses, masks, and hats that hide your face.

One face per photo

No group shots: crop to one person. For your pet, one animal per photo with its face and ears clear.

Caption ideas

What to write when you post it

Pick one, add #skullcap and #skullcaptrend, and keep the AI label on if the app asks.

How I act 0.01 seconds after putting on a skull cap

The classic. Swap "I" for "dudes" or "mfs" to match the original.

The cap did all the work

For when the after is honestly better than you expected.

My dog made me do this

For the pet version, after the "My mum made me do this" take.

Same person, different lighting

Or "Masc potential unlocked", if that's what the comments are going to say anyway.

FAQ

Skull cap trend AI: questions

Can't find your answer? Email us at [email protected] and we'll get back to you.

What is the skull cap trend?

A TikTok glow-up meme from October 2026, captioned "How dudes act 0.01 seconds after putting on a skull cap". An awkward, brightly lit before; a black knit cap pulled down; a hard cut on the beat drop; then the same person in the dark with the hood up and a cold stare.

How do I make the skull cap trend video with AI?

Add a clear photo of yourself on this page (and, if you like, a photo of your pet) and press Make. In a few minutes you get the 10-second clip with you in both halves and the trend sound lined up on the cut. Download it and post.

What's the skull cap trend song?

The TikTok sound "original sound - SoulReligion", which is Bryson Tiller's verse from DJ Khaled's "Wild Thoughts" (featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller). Your video already has that stretch of the sound on it, with the beat drop on the cut. If you'd rather post with TikTok's own sound page, add it in TikTok's editor and turn the original audio down.

Who started the skull cap trend?

No single creator is credited. One of the earliest takes we could open is @notfromco's from 11 October 2026; @connors_archives (14 October) and @antoniopieterss (18 October) took it past 10 million views each. Know Your Meme added it on 27 October.

Can my dog or cat be in it?

Yes. Add your photo as photo 1 and your pet as photo 2: you hold them up beside your face, and after the cut you both wear black caps, the pet with a little hood. With only a pet photo, a made-up young man holds your pet. The pet stays a real animal with its own fur and face.

Can girls do the skull cap trend?

Of course. Women have some of the biggest takes, and the comments love it. Upload your own photo; the AI keeps your face and puts you in the black cap and hood after the cut.

I wear glasses. Will that work?

Even better. If your photo has glasses, you wear them in the bright before and they're gone after the cut, just like the original takes.

Do I need a skull cap or a hoodie?

No. Your photo can show any clothes; the black knit cap, the hoodie and the dark room come from the video. Your own clothes and hair only appear before the cut.

Is there a skull cap trend filter?

Not an official one. On TikTok people film two shots and cut on the beat. Here you skip the filming: one photo becomes both halves.

Why do people say "Marlon" in the comments?

Commenters say the hooded after shot looks like Marlon, a Twitch streamer. It's a joke about the look. This tool keeps your own face; it doesn't make you look like anyone else, and celebrity photos aren't allowed.

How much does it cost?

10 seconds on Standard is 10 credits at 720p (a $9.99 Single covers it) or 5 at 480p. Packs never expire and failed renders are never charged.

How long is the video, and what format?

10 seconds, vertical 9:16 like the original TikToks, MP4 with the sound. The cut lands at about 4.8 seconds, on the beat drop.

Can I make it in HD or 1080p?

Yes. It starts on Standard at 720p, sharp enough for TikTok and Reels. Tap "Change model, resolution, length or format" in the studio for Pro or 1080p; every option shows its credits before you press Make.

Is this a real video of me?

No. The AI makes a new clip from your photo that follows the trend's moves and cut. RapVideo AI is an independent fan tool, not affiliated with TikTok, the creators of the trend, Bryson Tiller, DJ Khaled or their labels.

Can I use someone else's photo?

Only of people who agreed, and never a celebrity or a stranger; anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian's consent. Photos are private and used only to make your video.

Put the cap on

One photo, the awkward before, the cut on the beat, the cold stare. 10 seconds with the sound, 10 credits. Bring your dog.
